In Haiti, of all the deaths of children under 5 years of age, 34% died in the neonatal period, with approximately 90% of these deaths occurring in the first week of life. In 2013, there were an estimated 6,800 neonatal deaths in Haiti on the basis of a neonatal mortality rate of 25 per 1000 live births, which was unchanged since 2010.
